Future Cascade

Future Cascade

In early 2004 I attended the relatively new club, Southern Bonsai Society's beginners course held at a nursery in the Vaal River area.

After the course we were able to wander around and purchase trees. I walked around with a few ideas in mind of what I wanted, one of them was a juniper of some sort, and another a cascade. This specimen showed potential for both possibilities to be accomplished simultaneously.

The masters always say that you should never style and repot at the same time otherwise it will kill your tree. As far as my experience goes, it is the other way round. Each tree that I have styled and repotted at the same time have survived, and those that I did separately have died. This tree is no exception.

It is looking a little brown at the moment due to winter, but there are already signs of it perking up. Once the clouds have developed and has been refined properly, I think it is going to be quite a good looking tree.

Good find.
