KAMINARI

In April 2005 one of our club members donated a tree to the club for one of our master growers to style and then raffle. It was more like a pole with a number of straight uninteresting branches. But when the soil was removed, a wonderful strong nebari was discovered and many opportunities presented themselves. The tree was raffled and the person who donated it won it back. He called for a redraw, and your's truly won it (I must stop entering these raffles).

The carving is not complete, but when it is it will be quite a magnificent tree. Even though it is styled more in the Sabamiki (hollow trunk) style, I have nicknamed it Kaminari (lightning style) as that is how I want to eventually develop the tree.
